Why is understanding cultural differences important?
By definition, "Culture" refers to a group or community which shares common experiences
that shape the way its members understand the world.
Our cultural differences are based on our different background such as place of birth, race, religion, family, social or economic status etc.
We all have relationships with people who also have different cultural background. It is important that we understand our own cultural approach and their cultural approach.
We are naturally "programmed" to respond to issues and to behave a certain way according to our cultural background. We can't pretend cultural differences don't matter, but rather develop enough knowledge about these differences to get the most from the diverse of thoughts of all individuals we have a chance to meet with.
When we think of culture, we should realize that in reality we belong to many cultures at once and should keep an inclusive mind at all times!
