The Search For Wellness and Inner Harmony



Inner harmony can be defined as a confident and tranquil state of mind that permits us to be at peace, without any anxiety or stress.

We are in inner harmony state when our ideas, thoughts and attitudes are in harmony and balance. It is not just about what is inside of us, but also about how we express ourselves through actions and words.

We should include in our daily routine practices that will bring us more inner harmony and wellness. We can choose the ones that actually make us feel better such as meditation, yoga, maybe playing a musical instrument... etc.

Some modern organizations are investing in promoting programs that debate and stimulate wellness and organizational harmony. These programs objective the wellness of each employee and also a more constructive and collaborative relationship among employees from different departments, functions, locations to achieve common goals for the benefit of the whole organization. 

Workplace programs that encourage workers to adopt healthier lifestyles, besides reducing health costs and absenteeism, also help to support the implementation of an organizational culture that fosters enthusiasm, vitality, motivation, and synergy. In my opinion Wellness and Workplace Harmony Programs are a worthwhile long-term strategy to improving the health and well-being in all organizations.


My own experience: I have included meditation in my daily routine for thirty five years. While I worked at the Dow Chemical in Michigan, I have participated in  workshops objecting to promote healthier lifestyle. At Amgen in Brazil, I implemented a twice a week quick stretch exercises sessions throughout the company's office.
 
Wellness and harmony concepts and practices: I had the great opportunity to learn them from my wife Lilian Costa Pinto, Integral (*) and Transpersonal (*) psychologist with master degree in Sciences of Religions and author of two books regarding wellness and meditation.
