Integral Coaching

Ken Wilber is the founder of the INTEGRAL INSTITUTE, and a co-founder of INTEGRAL LIFE. Wilber has developed the revolutionary and breakthrough INTEGRAL APPROACH. This INTEGRAL orientation applies to the various fields of human knowledge.

As it was conceptualized by Ken Wilber in his book The Eye of Spirit (published in 1997): "Integral means integrative, inclusive, comprehensive, balanced; the idea is to apply this integral orientation to the various fields of human knowledge and endeavors. This integral approach is important [because] it deeply alters our conceptions of psychology and the human mind; of anthropology and human history; of literature and human meaning; of philosophy and the quest for truth…"

Bert Parlee, Ph.D, a founding member and for several years chief of staff of Ken Wilber's Integral Institute in Colorado, says in his INTEGRAL COACHING website, about how the integral coaching methodology is different from other coaching methodologies:

-It understands that people are not reducible to any one simple type, but are actually constellations of levels of development, different values, personalities, social strategies…

-It approaches individuals with multiple assessment tools to arrive at a fuller and more accurate understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, hopes and fears, likes and dislikes…

-It offers a larger range of change technologies that can address the various dimensions of human existence: cognitive, emotional, physical, spiritual…

Therefore, when asked by friends about my recommendation regarding the best COACHING methodology, I recommend them to look for some reliable source of INTEGRAL COACHING, because in my opinion its foundations are based on the most complete and integrative developmental model.

A book authored by Ken Wilber, that is a short introduction to the INTEGRAL APPROACH:

TRADUÇÃO: Ken Wilber é o fundador do "INTEGRAL INSTITUTE" e co-fundador do "INTEGRAL LIFE". Wilber desenvolveu a revolucionária e inovadora ABORDAGEM INTEGRAL.

Ronaldo,
I love the reminder that employees (learners) are true individuals and cannot be coached and developed in one rigid way. What concerns me, during this economy in particular and with tight budgets in general, is the tendency to use a one-size-fits-all approach to coaching and developing employees. How many managers take the time to individually develop their team members? Just my skepticism.
